You might remember a post from last year about our experiments with mud, and creating patterns on paper that look like veins and landscapes.
Well, after putting the project to the side for a while, we’ve decided to reinvigorate it and see what new ideas we can bring.
Rather than using mud, we’ve started testing out graphite and seeing how that reacts to being drained on the paper. We start by scraping off small flakes from a graphite stick, mixing it with water and then let nature do its magic. The mixture drains through a small hole, usually in the centre of the paper, and it’s hard to predict what patterns each one will make!
